~my students find it very funny that the name of ny's auditorium is my chinese name...and a student gave me a new name of xiao ming (tat's lm's "name" la haha...) cos she saw my acronym was llXM...oh ya..there was this student...asked me why there was this persistent black thing she sees through her microscope...asked me to look through...kept laughing...then she says..oh i know why already...cos the wire is not at the side...the wire is above the light source... microscopy.... had two prac lessons today... with 2 sec 3 classes. involved the peeling off of the inner epidermal layer of the onion. still remember last time my teacher taught us a way to get the inner epidermal layer--place the onion purple side up, use the scapel cut down but not totally, so the scale leaf is cut through but not the inner epidermis, then fold the two parts down, peel apart gently to remove the epidermis. didnt' had time to try if i still had the skill before the lesson as i had another lesson before the prac session. so went in hoping, praying very hard i still had it haha...i think it failed on the first attempt cos the piece i used was too small..but i succeeded later :) yeah i still remember my stuff :) then i prepared my own microscopic slide of a hydrilla leaf. examined it under the microscope. saw lotsa chloroplasts. was focusing to see if any moved. sadly, none did. still remember a specimen i examined during jc prac had lotsa chloroplasts too, and some moved..so cute haha...
